Pandora Might Be The Coolest Thing Ever

It's rare that I get this excited about a new web site/app. But Pandora.com is on to something. They just went "free" after I assume having difficulty getting people to pay for their service. What they do, at the surface, isn't a new concept - they stream music, and they deliver you a playlist based on your preferences. The SWEET thing is, they base it on something they call the Music Genome Project, which breaks music down into many different attributes, or "genes." And it takes music you like and finds other music with similar musical "DNA." All I can say is that it works. I am a snotty musician (or former musician, really at this point) and am very picky about music. I bought 3 CDs from stuff it recommended in about 2 hours of listening at work. Not to mention it regularly mixes in the stuff it already knows you like. I've never seen an internet music site that gets it so right.

GO LISTEN!
